(ANSA) - Rome, September 8 - The governor of the Val
d'Aosta region, Augusto Rollandin, on Tuesday wrote to Premier
Matteo Renzi and Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni urging them to
try to resolve a border dispute between Italy and France on Mt
Blanc.
The mayor of Chamonix started the row Monday by blocking
access to the Gigante (Giant) glacier from the Torino refuge,
saying it was French territory.
This sparked protests in Courmayeur with demonstrators
saying "it's Italy up there, they have no competence".
There have been several disputes about the exact border
line on Europe's highest mountain over the last few years.
