(ANSA) - Rome, September 8 - Italian Jewish leaders
reportedly asked Israeli President Reuven Rivlin during his
recent trip to Rome to block the appointment of former Italian
MP Fiamma Nirenstein as Israel's next ambassador to Rome,
starting next year.
According to Haaretz, Nirenstein is viewed as having been
too close to conservative former premier Silvio Berlusconi.
