Chailly to leave Gewandhausorchester next year (2)

(ANSA) - Milan, September 3 - La Scala Principal Director Riccardo Chailly will leave the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig in June 2016, four years earlier than expected, ANSA sources said Thursday. Chailly is slated to become La Scala's musical director in 2017. He was recently named head of the Lucerne Festival. Sources said the conductor was finding two jobs, in Milan and Lucerne, as much as he could handle.
