(ANSA) - Milan, August 28 - Zambian Health Minister Joseph Kasonde visited the Expo on the occasion of his country's national day and called on the international community to travel to Zambia and invest in the African state to help beat hunger.
"Come to Zambia, as tourists or investors to help us defeat hunger," he said.
"Zambia is participating in the Expo supporting the theme 'Come let's produce food together'. "Our pavilion - added the minister - illustrates our country's development and the opportunities for investment in the fields of tourism and agriculture".
Kasonde stressed that Zambia is committed to improving its production capabilities through sustainable development and invited investors to take a closer look at his country.
"We want Italy to have a role in our growth. That's why we would like to attract Italian companies willing to invest", he added.
Impregilo, Fiat and Alitalia have already invested in the African country and Foreign Undersecretary Benedetto Della Vedova commented that "Zambia represents an example of democracy, political stability and economic growth for Italy in the sub-Saharan region". "We believe - added Della Vedova - that Italian companies hold the necessary technologies and knowhow to accompany Zambia's growth and environmental sustainability".
