Firemen call off hunt for 'crocodile' sighted in Marche

(ANSA) - Civitanova Marche, August 28 - Firemen using an amphibious vehicle and forest rangers who spent two days scouring the Chienti river estuary marshland for a presumed crocodile spotted by a canoeist called off the fruitless search Friday, firefighters said.
    Among theories to explain the apparent sighting of the purported reptile are that the canoe instructor may have spotted an iguana or an otter.
