Placido, Angiolini tribute to Satriano Gryphons at Expo

Stage performance at Palazzo Italia

(ANSA) - Milan, August 27 - Actors Michele Placido and Ambra Angiolini paid tribute to the Gryphons of Ascoli Satriano, one of the six artworks chosen to represent the Italian artistic heritage at the Expo with a theatrical performance at Palazzo Italia.
    "This sculpture is an absolute masterpiece of Greek art and also the most important archaeological find of the past 30 years" commented Placido who interpreted texts by Homer and Sappho, while Angiolini played a very contemporary Medea. "The Italian Pavilion also chose to show works of art that are a testament to Italy's artistic genius and great beauty" commented Expo President Diana Bracco.
