(ANSA) - Rome, August 18 - Italian Premier Matteo Renzi on
Tuesday hailed a sharp drop in the number of hours paid out by
the government lay-off fund CIG in July.
At 52.4 million hours, the CIG data were 26.9% down on the
71.7 million hours of July 2014, and 8.7% down on June 2015,
national pension and social security agency INPS reported.
"The INPS data on lay-offs are a sign that things are
finally changing, #Italy is restarting," Renzi tweeted.
