State auditor says 'services of primary importance' at risk

(ANSA) - Rome, July 31 - The Audit Court on Friday sounded the alarm about a shortage of funding for the country's provincial administrations, which central government is in the process of phasing out and giving their powers to other local bodies to save money. The State auditor said in a report that, with the removal of this layer of government not yet complete, the funding given to the provinces may not be enough to "guarantee services of primary importance".
