(ANSA) - Rome, July 29 - Rome's international Fiumicino
airport was returning to normal Wednesday evening after its
runways were earlier blocked by smoke from a fire in a nearby
pine forest. In a tweet early in the afternoon, Alitalia said a
fire near Fiumicino airport had blocked all takeoffs. Fire crews
fought the blaze, which had been fanned by strong winds. The
incident came as the airport was finally recovering from damages
caused by a fire in early May that blocked many operations.
