(ANSA) - Rome, July 21 - Last month was the hottest June
since records began in 1880, the US National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said on Tuesday.
Likewise, the first six months of the year were the hottest
on record and NOAA said the same is likely to be true of the
whole of 2015.
In June the average global temperature was 16.33 degrees,
0.88 degrees above the 20th century average and 0.12 degrees
higher than the previous record set in June 2014.
This year NOAA meteorologists predict a strengthening El
Nino, making it "almost impossible that 2015 won't be the
hottest year on record".
