(ANSA) - Giffoni Valle Piana, July 20 - Italian motorists
taking 'selfie' photographs of themselves with mobile phones
while driving vehicles have become a major cause of accidents on
the peninsula, State Police chief Barbara Barra told the Giffoni
Film Festival Monday.
Speaking at the premiere of a short film on the subject
called 'Selfie,' made with the cooperation of traffic police in
Brescia province, Barra said that "certainly not just selfies
cause accidents but we are recording an increase due to this
phenomenon that is more than a little alarming".
"We have to sensitize young people and educate them about
road safety".
Among those present at the film showing were Jacopo
Mazzazioli, aged 10, who acts in the film.
