(ANSA) - Ventimiglia, July 17 - Red Cross doctors are
treating six of the migrants camped out on rocks by the sea near
the French-Italian border for scabies, the humanitarian
organization said Wednesday. A contagious, extremely itchy, skin
disorder that leads to a rash, scabies is caused by infestation
the scabies mite, a parasite that burrows into the skin. It
spreads via close skin-to-skin contact and is easily treated
with an insecticide lotion applied to the skin.
