Marino staying unless Romans decide otherwise-Orfini-update3

Orfini says mayor knows he must do more

(ANSA) - Rome, June 17 - Democratic Party (PD) Chairman Matteo Orfini said Wednesday that under-fire Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino will be staying in his position until the people of Rome decide otherwise. Marino has come under pressure to quit after the council was hit by the so-called Mafia Capitale corruption probe, even though he is not personally implicated. On Tuesday Renzi said Marino could not afford to be "relaxed" in his position and had to show he could govern the capital or go home. "Marino is perfectly conscious he must do more," Orfini said Wednesday.
"I talk to Marino and Renzi on a daily basis, and the mayor experienced the premier's words as a stimulus to do more and do it better".
