Morales says Bolivia favors universal citizenship

(ANSA) - Milan, June 12 - Bolivian President Evo Morales said Monday his country is in favor of universal citizenship and the abolition of the words "illegal migrant".
    "In Bolivia...we will try and welcome migrants because they are human beings," he said.
    "And we don't use the term 'illegal' because we must have universal citizenship," he added in his speech to the seventh Italy-Latin America Conference under way from June 12 until Tuesday.
    "We understand the problems that the immigration phenomenon poses," the Bolivian leader went on.
    "But the migratory flows are caused by capitalism, by wars, by military intervention and the fact that wealth is concentrated in the hands of too few people," he said.
    "We need to democratize resources".
    Morales went on to say he "welcomes" European investments in Bolivia, with some conditions.
    "We don't accept proposals that prejudice the development of our people," he said.
    "We must have trust in our government and we take responsibility for repaying all our debts".
