(ANSA) - Brussels, April 29 - The European Union Court of
Justice ruled Wednesday that member nations may ban gay men from
ever donating blood, under some conditions.
"Permanently excluding men who have had homosexual
relations from donating blood may...be justified," the Court
wrote.
"But (governments) must prove these individuals are at high
risk of contracting severe infectious diseases such as HIV, and
that there is no other method to protect blood recipients".
