(ANSA) - Florence, March 27 - Pope Francis will dine at a
soup kitchen in Florence, operated by Caritas, while he is in
the Tuscan capital for a convention in November.
Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, Archbishop of Florence, said
Friday that the pope intends to sit with him and a group of
patrons of the soup kitchen, including some of the city's poor.
Francis could make a stop in the Tuscan textile town of
Prato during his November visit.
The pope will be in Florence for the fifth national church
congress organised by the Italian Bishops' Conference (CEI) from
November 9-13.
He could visit Prato to see Chinese garment workers there,
said Betori.
The pope is expected to travel by helicopter from Vatican
City.
Prato has historic ties to Italy's once-flourishing textile
industry although in recent years the town has become a centre
for Chinese-run garment factories producing low-cost clothes.
Some of the factories have been linked to organised crime
or found to exploit workers in precarious conditions.
