(ANSA) - Rome, February 27 - Italy's secret services said
Friday in a report to parliament that there is "a growing risk"
of Islamic terror attacks in Italy and Europe.
These could be carried out by the wives, girlfriends, and
other female relatives of Islamic State (ISIS) combatants who
are "attracted by the heroism of their menfolk", the report
said.
The report went on to say "a new generation of jihadists"
is growing in Europe.
They are young, experts in computer science, and little
schooled in doctrine, according to the report.
The European Union is "permeable to proselytism and
recruitment" and "there are multiplying signals of the
ideological cooptation of aspiring mujahedeens," the report
said.
