(ANSA) - Rome, February 19 - Feyenoord fans broke off
pieces of the famed Barcaccia fountain at the foot of Rome's
Spanish Steps in running battles with police Thursday. One
section of the fountain's upper basin was scarred as if someone
had hit it with a heavy object. Fragments were visible amid beer
bottles and other rubbish on the bottom of the recently restored
fountain. The Dutch fans ran amok ahead of Thursday night's
Europa League match against Roma.
