(ANSA) - Rome, January 13 - Beppe Grillo, leader of the
maverick 5-Star Movement (M5S) mocked Italy's work during its
six-month semester leading the European Union on Tuesday as the
post formally ended. A sarcastic Grillo called the period
"fantastic" and said that Italy accomplished "nothing" in
fighting rising public debt at home and the loss of numerous
businesses to recession. "The only improvement that there was
during this period, was that life expectancy has been
shortened," Grillo added sarcastically.
