(ANSA) - Vatican City, December 15 - New Led lighting for
the facade and dome of St. Peter's Basilica will be turned on
Friday at 6 pm at the same time as the illumination of the St.
Peter's Square Christmas tree, the Vatican said Monday.
In all 315 new clusters of Led lights will illuminate the
Basilica, the largest church in the world, allowing a
significant saving in energy consumption, said Father Federico
Lombardi, the Vatican chief spokesman.
The new lights will be turned on between 6 and 6:30 pm
Friday immediately after a ceremony for the unveiling of the
Nativity crypt in St Peter's Square and the illumination of the
Christmas tree from Calabria.
