(ANSA) - Venice, November 18 - Leonardo da Vinci's celebrated drawing titled Vitruvian Man will be on display in Milan for a month during the Expo world's fair to be held next year, sources said Tuesday.
The iconic pen and ink drawing on paper - which in Italian is titled The Proportions of the Human Body according to Vitruvius - depicts a nude male body in two superimposed positions inscribed in a circle and a square.
Created circa 1490, the drawing has been housed in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice since 1822. Like most works on paper, it is only occasionally put on public display, but curators green-lit its one-month exhibition honouring the Renaissance genius of Leonardo in Milan's Royal Palace next summer.
