Renzi's tax bonus being offset by hikes elsewhere - union

CISL says tax burden on households rose this year

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, November 17 - One of Italy's big three trade union confederations, CISL, said in a study on Monday that the benefits of Premier Matteo Renzi's 80-euro-a-month tax bonus for low earners were being offset by other tax hikes.
Indeed, CISL said the tax burden on Italian households rose from 30.8% in 2010 to 31.1% in 2014, largely because of increases in local taxes.
It said in the report that the government's 80-euro bonus "has been compensated by increases in other taxes".
