(ANSA) - Rome, October 24 - Italian President Giorgio
Napolitano said Friday that some senior European Union figures
may have a guilt complex about the austerity policies the bloc
has pursued. "I read the draft of the document of the European
Council (summit) and I noticed that the term austerity does not
appear this time," Napolitano said. "To avoid controversy,
someone has agreed not to mention it. Maybe they were motivated
by some guilt complex".
