(ANSA) - Brussels, October 17 - The European Union has
identified 30,146 victims of human trafficking and prosecuted
8,551 human traffickers in 2010-2012, EU Internal Affairs
Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom said Friday.
Of the victims, 80% were women, 16% were minors, and 69%
were trafficked for purposes of sexual exploitation.
Of those trafficked for sex, 95% were women and 1,000 were
minors, Malmstrom said.
