Trial request for 2 nuns, four others in child-beating case

(ANSA) - Trapani, October 15 - The Trapani prosecutor's office on Wednesday requested six suspects to go on trial, including two nuns, following an investigation into child abuse at a residential children's home.
    Sister Teresa Mandirà and Sister Yvonne Jacqueline Noah are among the six ordered to stand trial for suspected abuse at the Pio X Institute in Valderice in the province of Trapani.
    Mandirà was put under house arrest in March 2013 while the others under investigation were prohibited from being around children.
    The prosecutor's office said the suspects "performed continuous beatings, both with bare hands and with objects, on the children hosted by the institute".
