(ANSA) - Venice, September 2 - Ivano De Matteo's film I Nostri Ragazzi (Our Kids) screened Tuesday in competition in the Venice Days section of the 71st Venice Film Festival.
A tale of two middle-class families, it stars Alessandro Gassman as a successful criminal lawyer and his pediatric surgeon brother, played by Luigi Lo Cascio, as they grapple with a moral dilemma that arises when their respective teenage children are caught on camera brutally beating a homeless woman to death. Will the parents turn their kids in to the police, or will they cover up for them, thus violating their own ethical codes? The drama is loosely based on The Dinner, a best-selling novel by Dutch author and actor Herman Koch.
