(ANSA) July 29 - Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's government
will not carry out an additional corrective budget in 2014
despite continuing concern over the slow pace of economic
recovery, Junior Economy Minister Enrico Morando said Tuesday.
"This does not mean that we are not concerned about the way
the economic cycle is going but to speak continuously of
corrective budgets is not helpful, it is negative," Morando told
a conference of the Confcommercio shopkeepers' association.
Morando added that the decision-making phase on public
finances for 2014-2015 "is an enormously tough period that will
have as its centre the success or non-success of revising public
spending".
The junior minister underlined that: "If we start 2015 with
an almost zero rate of growth as we have at the moment there
will be a drag effect and this will pose a serious problem to
tackle".
