Alitalia 'must stay European' says EC

(ANSA) - Brussels, June 25 - Alitalia must stay "in European hands", the European Commission said after Etihad took 49% of the Italian flag carrier Wednesday.
    "The (Italian) authorities must ensure norms are respected," said a spokesman for Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas said.
    Brussels may need further information on the tie-up to make sure EU regulations are met, he said.
