(ANSA) - Rome, June 24 - An amendment tabled Tuesday to a
bill on defamation would oblige Internet sites and search
engines to cancel "defamatory content" or personal data of
people whose reputations have been blackened.
Should they refuse to cancel the defamatory material a
magistrate will be able to order them to do so, under the
amendment tabled by Silvio Berlusconi's opposition centre-right
Forza Italia party in the bill approved in the justice committee
of the Senate.
