Chances good EU 'foreign minister' will be Italian says Gozi

(ANSA) - Luxembourg, June 24 - Italy has a very good chance of winning the top foreign affairs post on the European Commission, European Affairs Undersecretary Sandro Gozi said Tuesday. Speaking during a break during preparations for the upcoming EU summit in Brussels Thursday, Gozi said Italy has "good candidates for various posts in the European Commission," and that of "foreign minister" could "very well go to Italy". The current High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy is Britain's Catherine Ashton.
