(ANSA) - Rome, June 13 - The United Nations on Friday urged
Papua New Guinea to stop attacks against women and sometimes men
believed to be witches.
UN human rights adviser Signe Poulsen criticised the
government for allegedly doing nothing to stop the attacks.
The government has faced repeated criticism for failing to
protect women amid broad superstition that 'mystery' deaths and
illnesses are caused by alleged sorcerers.
