(ANSA) - Rome, June 4 - Germany on Wednesday opened a probe
into allegations by United States intelligence leaker Edward
Snowden that the US government bugged Chancellor Angela Merkel's
phone.
Federal prosecutor Harald Range told parliament an
investigation would be held into persons unknown.
Merkel in October asked US President Barack Obama for an
explanation for the alleged spying by the US National Security
Agency (NSA).
