(ANSA) - Rome, May 30 - Italian State museums and
archeological sites will no longer turn over revenue to the
culture ministry, but instead keep it to reinvest, Culture
Minister Dario Franceschini said Friday. "It's an important step
that rewards performing institutions," he added. In the past,
museums and related sites turned over money generated from
ticket and merchandize sales to the government, which in turn
financed institutions regardless of their performance.
