(ANSA) - Rome, May 2 - Five NATO ships arrived in the
Lithuanian port of Klaipeda "to reinforce regional defense",
said Lithuanian Defense Minister Juozas Olekas on Friday.
Olekas said NATO aimed to reassure allies against fears
created by escalating crisis in the Ukraine.
Pro-Russian separatists on Friday complained Ukrainian
military forces that surrounded the city of Sloviansk would not
allow the evacuation of women and children despite lack of food
and potable water.
The EU urged that Geneva Accords be applied to keep the
Ukrainian conflict from deteriorating, a European Commission
spokesperson said Friday.
