Liguria Governor Giovanni Toti is
confident he will be able to show prosecutors he did no
wrongdoing after being put under house arrest in a corruption
probe on Tuesday, his lawyer Stefano Savi said.
"I have spoken with the (regional) president, my client is calm
and counts on being able to explain everything," Savi as he left
Toti's flat with the governor and finance police.
"He will continue to work. As we have been able to see up to
now, these are all deeds that we can give an explanation to
within the framework of legitimate activities of administration
for the public interest".
When asked for a comment by reporters, Toti said he could not
speak about the case.
Sources said finance police searched Toti's Genoa flat in the
governor's presences before he was taken to finance police
barracks in the city.
