Italian premier wants open dialogue with Russia (see related) (ANSA) - Rome, March 19- Italian Premier Matteo Renzi told the Lower House on Wednesday that communication with Russia must be kept "open" in order to avoid "the nightmare of a return to the Iron Curtain". Renzi underlined the need "to come to a solution that does not ignore the role of Russia" and stressed the importance of keeping an open dialogue with Moscow.

The new premier, who was sworn in last month, called for "concrete action on the part of all institutions, especially G8 countries," of which Italy is one. He went on to call a recent referendum on independence in Crimea "illegitimate" and emphasized that the use of sanctions (against Russia) should be "gradual and reversible".
