Police allege 37 involved in false disability fraud
Social services scam netted more than 1.6 million euros

(ANSA) - Rome, January 16 - Thirty-seven suspects were under
investigation in a probe into an alleged disability fraud worth
more than 1.6 million euros against Italy's social security
agency INPS, police in Rome said Thursday.Authorities said that about 290 payments on false disability claims were made, dating back to 2006, using a computerized procedure for "miscellaneous" requests.
Rome's prosecutors said that false claims came from people aged between about 20 and 30.
Bank accounts and property have been seized as part of the probe.
