PD down but still top in poll, M5S overtakes PdL in second (ANSA) - Rome, October 25 - The centre-left Democratic Party (PD) of Premier Enrico Letta dipped 0.6% to 27.8% but still topped a weekly poll for public broadcaster RAI Friday.

The anti-establishment 5-Star Movement of ex-comedian Beppe Grillo gained 2.8% to 24.6% to place second, overtaking ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom (PdL) party which fell 1.4% to 23.1%.

Pollsters said continuing squabbles had hurt the PD and PdL, uneasy partners in an unprecedented right-left government.

Grillo benefitted from PD-PdL bickering over the budget and Berlusconi's looming ban from office, they said.
