Berlusconi says he is 'very credible in Europe' (ANSA) - Rome, February 12 - Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi on Tuesday denied having a credibility problem in Europe.

It is "the thing that makes me most angry, that appears furthest from reality," he told a forum organized by ANSA.

"Instead I am very credible within the European Union," Berlusconi added. The three-time premier drew criticism from the European establishment particularly in the final stages of his last term in office at the end of 2011 as Italy's debt crisis threatened to spiral out of control.

He was eventually replaced by Mario Monti, a respected economist and former EU commissioner for competition, at the helm of a technocrat government.

The colourful media magnate has also been derided for his alleged antics with young women.

He is currently on trial for allegedly paying for sex with a minor and abusing his office as president at the time to cover it up.

There is also footage of him being shunned by fellow participants at international summits.
