Sixfold data: with border closure, crossing time up 26%

22 April, 15:09
(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 22 APR - Last week, road freight traffic decreased by 50% in Spain, 46% in France and 37% in Italy compared with the pre-crisis period. These are some of the data made public by the Sixfold private platform, specialized in logistics monitoring. Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the company has offered a free information platform to monitor blockages of goods at borders. The situation has been improving for a month now, according to a report published today, but "border delays continue to occur and crossing times are still 26% longer than the pre-Covid period." The main problems were recorded in the central-eastern quadrant of the continent, on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic, between Bulgaria and Romania and between Austria and Hungary. In the first week of April, the distances traveled decreased by about 24% compared with the pre-crisis period. (ANSA).
