Tourism: FVG's peaks ready to be discovered as summer ends

After lockdown to restore mind and body

09 September, 11:49
(by Alberto Rochira) (ANSA) - TRIESTE, 09 SET - Nothing is better than uncontaminated nature and the spectacular views of the Alps of Friuli Venezia Giulia, to enjoy an unusual end of summer with a pleasant and relaxing vacation in contact with nature, to enhance psychophysical well-being, and enjoy good food. All this is at hand for those who choose the FVG mountains for a holiday at the end of summer.

The area of Tarvisio has a millenary forest of 24,000 hectares, the largest state-owned forest in Italy, a green 'island' on the border between Austria and Slovenia, which also boasts resonance spruce, a raw material for instruments of the highest quality music created all over the world. Friuli Venezia Giulia offers numerous innovative proposals suitable for regenerating body, mind, and spirit, even by practicing sports and hiking in a unique setting.

Every stay should be pleasant, comfortable, and stress-free.

Therefore, PromoTurismoFVG (www.promoturismo.fvg.it/) has created, for example, the "summer pass," including a carnet of 10 rides throughout the season on the lifts lift of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

September is the ideal month for excursions and visits that are real and unrepeatable "experiences" that are available at really affordable prices, all with mandatory booking 1 or 2 days before: such as the exploration of the Friulian Dolomites and their Park with canyoning descent in the Ciafurle gorge at the village of Claut, (September 11, 18, 25), the guided tour of the old town of Sappada, one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy, every Thursday until September 24, the "storytelling" of Forni di Sopra (Carnia), with a visit to the village to discover its ancient legends (every Thursday until September 24). There is also the E-Bike excursion at high altitude for a tour of the Malghe on Monte Zoncolan starting from the town of Sutrio (September 12, 19, 26).

Many could enjoy the proposals of the "Forest Bathing" in the Tarvisio forest, forest therapy activities with certified health improvements, scheduled every Saturday until September 30 from 9 am; but also the excursions to the twin waterfalls in the Torre valleys, the barefoot walks along the river Natisone, the Nordic walking on the Trieste Karst.

And what about trekking enthusiasts? If you aim to walk in the mountains, the Sappada trails are online thanks to the Outdooractive application, a mapping system with 147 updated routes indicating the level of difficulty, length, duration, the difference in height, descent, open refreshment points. Sappada and Tarvisio share even the Made route, "Malga and Alm Desired Experience" (www.madeinalps.eu), a project financed by the Interreg VA cross-border cooperation program between Italy and Austria and designed by the Tarvisiano Consortium, which unites 40 alpine huts in one 144-kilometer route along the border between Italy and Austria. Two itineraries are available, one pedestrian and one cycle path. To "recharge your batteries" before the long winter, there is the "Reload" wellness program of the Terme di Arta (Carnia). Still, you can also choose the "Green Wellness" paths on Mount Piancavallo (Western Friuli), with original excursions that combine the landscape and nutritional aspects to promote healthy outdoor activity.
