Tourism: Fedriga, "corridors" to rule out Italy are unfair

Plan to prevent northern tourists from passing through Italy

19 May, 18:37
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 19 MAG - "Unfair competition that would be unacceptable", said the Governor of the FVG Region, Massimiliano Fedriga, in an interview with ANSA, commenting on the plan for 'corridors' that tourists from the North (Austria, Germany) could enter, through Slovenia and Croatia, thus avoiding passing through Italy to reach the Slovenian or Croatian holiday resorts.

"The government must strongly enforce the rules of the European Union, otherwise it favors unfair competition with countries that order to their citizens where they should go on vacation - Fedriga explained - We are coming out of a situation of symmetrical crisis, which means that all the countries have been affected by the infection and Friuli Venezia Giulia if compared to other European areas, and not only to other areas of Italy, has done much better in terms of infections. Therefore, these corridors would not mean guaranteeing the safety of your citizens, but using the coronavirus for another purpose," the governor said. (ANSA).
