(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 02 JUL - The Croatian tourism sector has recorded 6,5 million tourist arrivals in the country and 26 million overnight stays in the first months of 2019, the Croatian public television HRT reported, quoting Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli.

The latest data on tourism show a slight increase compared to the same period of last year, with 3 percent more arrivals and 5 percent more overnights, HRT added. "Most importantly, we haven't seen a drop in German tourists, but a boost in the number of German, American, and British tourists," Cappelli said, adding that arrivals from June were slightly lower due to bad weather. "When you look at our competition, Spain, Portugal, Italy, they have seen a drastic drop in the number of tourists from those countries, while we have recorded steady growth," Cappelli underlined.

In 2018, Croatia registered a record of arrivals, with 19,7 million tourists and 106 million overnight stays, respectively +6.5% and +4% year-on-year. (ANSA).
