(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 24 - Czechs are voting in municipal
elections and for a third of the Senate, the upper house of
Parliament, according to Radio Prague today. On the first day of
the elections, approximately one-quarter of all eligible voters
cast ballots. A total of 178 candidates are running for 27
Senate seats, and nearly 200, 000 are running for 60,000 local
council seats. A second round of voting in the Senate elections
will be held next weekend for candidates who do not receive 50%
of the vote. The first results, with approximately 75% of votes
counted, are expected on Saturday evening, with the final
results expected on Sunday morning, Radio Prague said.. (ANSA).
