(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JULY 3 - The municipal authorities in Belgrade today declared the 'state of emergency' in the city, which is the hotbed of the new wave of coronavirus infections.

To stem the virus spread, the authorities limited the opening hours of night clubs, bars, cafes, and restaurants, which must remain closed from 11 pm to 6 am. Meetings and gatherings will be allowed for up to 100 people indoors, with a face mask and physical distance of 1.5 m, and up to 500 people outdoors. And it will be mandatory to wear a mask on public transport and in all indoor places. After a gradual decrease in infections and the almost complete relaxation of restrictions, coronavirus cases have been increasing again for several days in Serbia.Ahead of Belgrade, the 'state of emergency' had been declared in other major cities such as Novi Pazar, Vranje, Kragujevac, Tutin. President Aleksandar Vucic, speaking last night on the state-owned television RTS, had anticipated the new restrictive measures in Belgrade, underlining that over 82% of the infections of the whole country were recorded in the capital.
