Italy-Poland: conference on strategic dialogue in Warsaw

On the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations

(ANSA) - WARSAW, OCTOBER 16 - A conference on 'Polish-Italian strategic dialogue' is scheduled for tomorrow in Warsaw by the institutes for international affairs, the Italian IAI and the Polish PISM, as part of the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The conference, in four sessions, will be attended by guests such as the Italian ambassador to Poland, Aldo Amati, Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Konrad Szymanski, the director of the PISM, Slawomir Debski, and the scientific councilor IAI, former Chief of Defense Staff, General Vincenzo Camporini.

In the morning session, historian Marco Patricelli and Ambassador Krzysztof Strzalka, former Polish Consul General in Milan, will talk about the traditions of political cooperation between Italy and Poland, focusing on the most important moments in the relations between the two countries from 1919 to today. During the second session, General Camporini (IAI) and professor Karolina Boronska-Hryniewiecka (PISM) will discuss how to reinvigorate European integration and the prospects for Italian and Polish cooperation within the EU.

In the afternoon, professor Fabrizio Botti (IAI) and Polityka Insight analyst Adam Czerniak will bring up the economic state of the European Union. In the last session, Ambassador Stefano Stefanini, former permanent representative of Italy at Nato and analyst Melchior Szczepanik (PISM), will address the issue 'the EU and the world', with a focus on relations with China, Russia, and US.
