"I was astounded to learn that,
in an uncoordinated manner with the Italian government, your
government would have decided to support with significant funds
non-governmental organisations involved in the reception of
irregular migrants on Italian territory and in rescues in the
Mediterranean Sea," Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote to
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"Both possibilities raise questions," Meloni added.
