03 June, 12:45The total number of fatalities in the region is 14.999 (+84), out of which 8522 registered in Germany, 1279 in Romania, 1074 in Poland, 727 in Ukraine 668 in Austria, 532 in Hungary, 321 in Czechia, 307 in Moldova, 244 in Serbia, 240 in Belarus.
Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (182028, +213 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (43403, +847), Ukraine (24340, +328), Poland (24165, +379), Romania (19398, +141), Austria (16663, +21), Serbia (11430, +18), Czechia (9302, +29) and Moldova (8360, +109). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 45534 confirmed cases and 2267 deaths were registered as of June 2.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 4573 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3856 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3117) and Germany (2189), while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (279 per million) and Greece (271 per million), according to a count based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (114), followed by Germany (102), Austria (75), Romania (67) and North Macedonia (66) Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 553 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between May 25 and June 1, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+18,5%), Belarus (+17,6%) and Moldova (+16,3%). In Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czechia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Hungary, Kosovo, Estonia, Serbia, Germany, Latvia, Greece, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero.
