(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 15 NOV - The German automaker Volkswagen plans to spend nearly 60 billion euros on hybridization, electric mobility and digitalization in the next five years, Volkswagen Group announced today.

In comparison with the "Group's last Planning Round", this represents "an increase of around 10 percentage points," Volkswagen specified in a statement on its official website, adding that the company "intends to invest around 33 billion euros of this figure in electric mobility alone." The announcement came after today's meeting of the Volkswagen's supervisory board, which approved the investment plan for 2020 to 2024.

Volkswagen is "focusing our investments on the future of mobility", with "hybridization, electrification and digitalization of our fleet (...) becoming an increasingly important area of focus," said Hans Dieter Pötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Volkswagen Group.

Volkswagen informed that the Group plans to introduce to the market up to 75 all-electric models along with about 60 hybrid vehicles through 2029, and to produce about 26 million e-vehicles and nearly 6 million hybrid vehicles by 2029. (ANSA).
