Avramopoulos warns EU leaders on W.Balkans' perspective
'Albania and North Macedonia deserve to start EU talks'

(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, OCTOBER 16 - EU Commissioner for
Migration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, warned today EU leaders ahead
of their decision on the opening of EU accession negotiations
for Albania and North Macedonia. "Let's be very careful with the
Western Balkans, don't let the Balkans get 're-Balkanised' in
the old way things happened there", he said during a press
conference in Brussels answering a question on the possibility
of a new delay in opening EU talks.
"Now it is up to the EU leaders to decide, the Commission's position is very clear: both countries deserve the start of negotiations," Avramopoulos stressed. (ANSA).
